Nature Takes its Course
Robert and Liz built a cabin on Fort Mountain, between
Chatsworth and Ellijay, so they could return to the view
and natural escape they adored. Nature took its course
and their passion began to multiply. One cabin turned
to two cabins. Two cabins turned to three cabins. They
rented the extra ones. Before long, they’d built
a total of ten cabins, collectively known as the Wilderness
View Cabins, scattered throughout the woods. |

The couple transformed The Rock Shop-it near the overlook-pull
off into a six-bedroom bed and breakfast, The Overlook Inn.
They soon quit their jobs and left Atlanta to live their passion
for Fort Mountain, buying 150 acres along the ridge of the
mountain and converting the area into The Summit of Fort Mountain,
a residential community where residents enjoy North Georgia
living.
All in the Family
Fort Mountain resort and properties is definitely a family
affair. Liz is the business genius, managing a small gift
shop and the couple’s other entrepreneurial endeavors
while Robert puts another passion to good use. Robert maintains
the natural surroundings, using his knack for woodworking
to convert trees to furniture, cabinets and other accessories
for the Wilderness View Cabins and The Overlook Inn.
Robert’s mother, Alma, ran the inn and cooked for guests
until she retired. Their son, Bennett is a one man show, taking
reservations, cleaning cabins and assisting with maintenance.
Roberts brother, Jeff - a building inspector and retired fireman,
has also joined the family on Fort Mountain. He is focusing
on construction management in The Summit of Fort Mountain
development. |
